What is a SERP simulator?
A SERP (Search Engine Results Page) simulator allows you to preview exactly how your page will appear in Google search results. It’s an essential tool for optimizing your title tags and meta descriptions before publishing, by checking truncation, formatting, and the visual impact of your result.
Features of our SERP v2 simulator
Our simulator integrates advanced features that go beyond a simple text preview:
Keyword bolding — Enter your target keyword and see exactly how Google bolds it in the title and description. This helps you evaluate the visibility of your result relative to the user’s search query.
Desktop and Mobile preview — Switch between desktop and mobile modes to verify that your result is optimized on both devices. Google displays slightly different results depending on screen size.
Rich Snippets — Simulate the display of rich results: rating stars, publication date, expandable FAQs, sitelinks, and breadcrumbs. These elements significantly increase the surface area of your result in the SERP.
Supported rich snippets
Stars (Rating) — Display a 5-star rating with the number of reviews. Results with stars have a 35% higher CTR on average.
FAQ — Simulate the expandable questions/answers that appear below your result. FAQ rich snippets double the size of your result on the page.
Sitelinks — Preview quick links to sub-pages that appear for brand queries.
Breadcrumb — Display the breadcrumb trail instead of the raw URL for better readability.
FAQ
What is the maximum length of a Google title?
Google displays approximately 580 pixels on desktop and 480 pixels on mobile for the title. In characters, this corresponds to approximately 55-65 characters, but pixel width is the true truncation criterion since characters have different widths (an “m” is wider than an “i”).
What about the meta description?
The meta description is displayed on approximately 920 pixels on desktop (2-3 lines) and 680 pixels on mobile. This represents approximately 155-160 characters. To be sure you’re not truncated, aim for a maximum of 150 characters.
Does Google sometimes modify the displayed title?
Yes, since August 2021, Google can rewrite titles displayed in SERPs if it determines they don’t adequately describe the page. To minimize rewrites, ensure your title is descriptive, unique, matches the page content, and doesn’t contain excessive keywords.
How do I get rich snippets on Google?
To get rich results, you need to add structured data (JSON-LD Schema) to your page. Use our JSON-LD Schema Generator to create the necessary code. Then validate it with Google’s Rich Results Test.
What’s the difference with the pixel checker?
Our Pixel Checker precisely measures the pixel length of your tags with progress bars. The SERP simulator, on the other hand, provides a complete visual preview of the Google result including rich snippets, keyword bolding, and mobile format. Both tools are complementary.
