What are the features of Site Explorer?

Site Ahref’sExplorer feature provides you with relevant information on the following aspects:

Backlink Profile Your backlink

profile lists all of your website’s links on the Internet, both internal and external. Site Explorer provides you with a report that shows you:
  • Referring pages;
  • DR (Domain Authority) and UR (URL Authority) ratings;
  • And from where the referring page links to your website.
This is a great tool to get a general overview of how your website is made up of links:
  • Backlinks: New, lost and broken
The site explorer will list all the backlinks on your website categorized by new backlinks , lost links and broken links. So you can see broken or lost links pointing to your website so you can fix them as soon as possible. Once you have detected them, then all you need to do is contact the owners of the affected websites to resolve the problem. This allows you to avoid low quality links and to have a profile convincing enough to gain authority in the eyes of search engines.
  • Referring, new and lost domains
In the links report provided by the explorer, you can see all the domains that have a link, of a certain type, to your website.  The idea is to allow you to see if there are questionable websites that are linked to you and seek to disavow them.  You can also get an idea of new referring domains by date and lost referring domains by date.
  • Internal Backlinks
This report shows you all the internal links on your website, with details if they are redirects or if the links are broken. Internal links are very important and help Google determine the authority of pages on your website. Make sure all your internal links point to active pages and try not to link to redirects.
  • Anchors
This report shows you the anchors, ie the anchor texts, used from websites that link to your site.  This can help you identify possible spam anchor texts among those used to link to your website or identify anchor patterns based on your anchor text profile.
  • Referring IP Addresses
According to Ahrefs, this report groups all referring pages and domains by each website’s IP address and by the subnet that IP address belongs to.  Essentially, this helps you identify the IP address of all websites that link to yours or another.  This could help you uncover possible black hat tactics used for link building by competing websites.

Organic Traffic Research

Site Explorer helps you discover what keywords your competitors are ranking for and how much traffic each keyword is bringing them. Simply enter their websites in the site explorer in the “Organic Search” section. While the tool takes into account more than 15 countries, it monitors more than 150 million keywords in the United States alone. This means that you have enough coverage to access accurate data regarding the organic search traffic of websites.

Web pages

The ”Page” section of the site explorer provides you with a lot of useful information in the page report. Not only can you see the URL classification of your website pages and referring domains, but you can also see if there are any redirects.  You will also be able to see the number of backlinks to a certain page on your website. This report shows the number of external links and referring domains for a page on your website, as well as the estimated traffic it receives. This report shows the pages on your website that have experienced the highest growth in referring domains, over the past 1, 7, and 30 days. If you have a blog on your website, this report ranks those pages by the total number of social shares they’ve generated across all social networks.

Paid Keyword Research

The paid keyword research feature lets you know if your competitors are buying ads and what keywords they excel at. The tool displays search volume, cost per click, traffic generated, and keyword ranking difficulty. Just go to the ”Paid Search” section in the report provided by the site explorer to discover the information on the paid keywords. In general, if you want to discover better ranking opportunities for your website, Ahrefs Keyword Explorer is a pretty comprehensive feature that you can use to your advantage.
